Watch: Kevin Costner And Octavia Spencer Tackle Race Relations In Trailer For 'Black Or White'

Black and White, Kevin CostnerWith the Micheal Brown shooting in August and the subsequent and ongoing protests still fresh, the issue of race relations in America has been back in the conversation in a big way. Bu don’t worry! Hollywood is here to fix everything with "Black Or White."

Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer lead this facile drama about a cranky, alcoholic, rich white lawyer who is suddenly left to care for his black granddaughter. But trouble arrives when the young girl’s middle class paternal grandmother fights for custody. And so begins a rather insipid look at complex themes of class and race, an experience we summed up in our review as "woefully misguided…painfully quaint and obtuse about contemporary issues."

Co-starring Jennifer Ehle, André Holland, Gillian Jacobs and Anthony Mackie, "Black Or White" kicks off a one-week Oscar qualifying run today (LOL) before opening in wide release on January 30th.
