Last season ended with Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison in a precarious position with her father gone, her hope for a future with Quinn possibly gone, and her faith in the paternal Saul shaken. Set two years after season four, the new episodes of Showtime’s “Homeland” will take its main character wholly outside the scope of Middle Eastern affairs and the CIA for the first time, and now the cable network has released a short teaser to give us a glimpse at Carrie’s life post-CIA.
Brisk, action-packed, and moody, the first teaser for season five is anchored around an emotional and tense conversation between Mandy Patinkin’s Saul Berenson and Carrie, who has left the CIA and her country for Berlin, Germany, to work as the head of security for a German philanthropist. Of course, as you’ll see in the teaser, it looks like Carrie will be drawn back into the intelligence world whether she wants to or not.
