Watch: Teaser Trailer For David Mamet's HBO Film 'Phil Spector' With Al Pacino & Helen Mirren

nullJust when you thought you couldn’t get any more excited about HBO’s upcoming slate of original programming, we now have a teaser for David Mamet’s “Phil Spector.” The TV movie starring Al Pacino as Phil Spector and Helen Mirren as his defense attorney is just two months away from its television premiere. While HBO doesn’t really give us much to go by, the very idea of a Pacino-Mirren-Mamet team up on the small screen should be exciting in itself.

“Phil Spector,” inspired by true events, centers on famed music producer’s relationship with his defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden while on trial for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson. The teaser doesn’t give us any footage of the upcoming film, just images of records shattering while we hear bits and pieces of dialogue. The Righteous Brothers’ song “Unchained Melody” can also be heard in the background, which just so happened to have been produced by the legendary record producer himself.

It should be interesting to see Al Pacino team up with David Mamet, Pacino had a very memorable turn as Ricky Roma in the film version of “Glengarry Glen Ross” which of course was written by Mamet (and based on his well-known play). Pacino was the only actor in that 1992 film to earn an Oscar nomination so getting a chance to hear Pacino speak Mamet’s words once again should be a real treat.

“Phil Spector” will premiere on HBO on Sunday, March 24th at 9pm.
