Watch: 'The Farce Awakens' For 'Sisters' Stars Tina Fey & Amy Poehler, Plus 3 Clips From The Comedy And More

SistersWith the box office dominance of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” virtually assured – per the LA Times, predictions for the domestic opening-weekend box office run as low as $185 million to as high as over $250 million – surely no studio would dare open a move within spitting distance of that colossal franchise. Well, it appears Universal isn’t scared of a little friendly competition. They have the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler big-screen reunion, “Sisters,” set for release on the same day and have even gone as far as releasing a new video poking fun at the Goliath to their David.

Entitled “The Farce Awakens,” the new “featurette” parodies the behind-the-scenes video the “Star Wars” filmmakers released at Comic-Con. Maya Rudolph and Ike Barinholtz (along with Fey and Poehler speaking in British accents) talk nostalgia, practical vs. digital effects, and the genius of their director “Jay” Jason Moore. Of course, by the end of the nearly three-minute-long video the crew makes sure to let audiences know that yes, “Sisters” will be opening opposite the new “Star Wars” but that it’s not really a competition because, as a hashtag helpfully says, you can watch them both.

In other “Sisters” marketing news, the studio has released three more clips from the film showcasing the famous chemistry between the comedic duo as well as a new TV spot. Watch them all, including “The Farce Awakens” featurette, below. Catch “Sisters” on December 18th which, judging by how many advance tickets were sold to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” may be the easiest new release that weekend to find a ticket to.
