'The Clapper' Trailer: Ed Helms & Amanda Seyfried Fall In Love

Over a decade ago, Dito Montiel made a well received indie movie, “A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints,” but ever since has largely been failing upwards. A string of movies have followed, that find him working with decent names (Dwayne Johnson, Shia LaBeouf, Kate Mara, Al Pacino, Robin Williams, Juliette Binoche) but all them have failed critically or commercially or both (“The Son Of No One,” “Empire State,” “Boulevard,” “Man Down“). Now comes “The Clapper,” and once again, a bunch of pretty well known names are caught in a movie that will like be forgotten by time you’re done reading post.

Starring Ed Helms, Amanda Seyfriend, Tracy Morgan, and Russell Peters, the oddball premise follows a man who becomes an overnight celebrity when he’s discovered in the background of countless informercials. Here’s the synopsis:

Eddie is a guy who gets paid to fill seats in infomercial audiences. When he is discovered by a late night TV talk show host who makes a punch line of his unusual job, Eddie is suddenly thrust into the limelight in a way that messes up his life and threatens his budding romance with Judy.

“The Clapper” hits theaters and VOD on January 26, 2018.
