Larry David spent 12 seasons turning everyday social grievances into existential warfare on “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Now, he’s taking that same gift for irritation and applying it to the entire American experiment.
HBO has released the trailer for “Life, Larry And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness,” a seven-episode limited sketch comedy series from David, Jeff Schaffer, and Higher Ground, the production company founded by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. The series debuts June 26 on HBO and streams on HBO Max, with new episodes rolling out weekly through the August 7 finale.
The logline is suitably blunt: “Those who don’t know history… are doomed to watch Larry David repeat it.” The series features David alongside select “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actors and various guest stars, reframing American history through the cranky, socially disastrous lens that made David’s HBO comedy one of the defining shows of the 21st century.
David writes and executive-produces the series with Schaffer, who also directs. Executive producers also include Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Ethan Lewis, and Vinnie Malhotra for Higher Ground.
“Life, Larry And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness” premieres June 26 at 9 pm ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
