Similar to the film side of things, November is positively bursting with new and returning titles for viewers to immerse themselves in. More than most months, there’s plenty of variety on display here in terms of genres from K-Dramas, to animated absurdism, coming-of-age, slice-of-life stories. But it’s arguably the month of both Marvel (two new series, albeit, one an animated one on Hulu), Jeremy Renner and Taylor Sheridan, the Paramount+ big cheese and creator/writer/director who returns with a new series (“Mayor of Kingstown” that stars Renner who also stars in Marvel’s “Hawkeye“), and his big hit series, “Yellowstone,” beginning its fourth season.

Other highlights? Peter Jackson is making his television debut with a documentary about a documentary of the biggest band ever to live while Mindy Kaling is returning with her latest series that explores the intricacies of womanhood. Elsewhere, Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell are once again working together. For some nostalgia, Michael C. Hall returns as the violent Dexter Morgan to try and right the wrongs of the series original ending. It’s a busy month, and with the year wrapping up soon, it’s time to play catch up on all we’ve missed.
“Dr. Brain” Season 1
From filmmaker Kim Jee-woon, the director behind films such as “A Tale of Two Sisters,” “The Age of Shadows,” and “I Saw the Devil,” comes the latest Apple TV+ series “Dr. Brain.” The first Korean-language series to debut on the streaming service, it stars Lee Sun-kyun (“Parasite“) as Sewon, a brilliant brain scientist trying to discover the truth behind the loss of his family in a mysterious accident. To do so, he performs brain synchs with the deceased to search for clues in their memories. Based on the Korean webtoon of the same name, the series also stars Lee Yoo-young and Park Hee-soon.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres November 4 on Apple TV+.
“Narcos: Mexico” Season 3
A continuation of the “Narcos” story on Netflix, “Narcos: Mexico” explores the origins of the modern drug war by going back to its roots. Created by Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard, and Doug Miro, the series stars Scoot McNairy, Jose Maria Yazpik, Alberto Ammann, and Alfonso Dosal. Not returning, however, is star Diego Luna following the end of his character’s storyline in Season 2. Season 3 takes place in the 1990s and will trace the ongoing war between the various factions that emerged following Gallardo’s incarceration.

“Dexter New Blood” Season 1
Following one of the more controversial series finales ever, Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan in “Dexter: New Blood,” a miniseries that looks to provide a proper ending. Set ten years after the end of the show’s original series finale, Dexter is now living in the fictional town of Iron Lake, New York, and hiding his identity while suppressing his serial killing urges. However, a string of events surrounding Iron Lake causes Dexter to fear the resurgence of his past self. Clyde Phillips returns as showrunner after exiting the original run after Season 4. Clancy Brown and Julia Jones also star.
Release Date: The series premieres November 7 on Showtime.
“Yellowstone” Season 4
Returning for its fourth season, “Yellowstone,” starring Keven Costner, is co-created by Taylor Sheridan (“Those Who Wish Me Dead,”) a filmmaker that’s well acquainted with modern-day Westerns. Picking up after the shocking Season 3 finale, Season 4 will deal with the consequences following the central family’s significant shake-up. Also starring Gil Birmingham and Wes Bentley, the series will start its revenge story with a two-part premiere event.

“The Shrink Next Door“
From director Michael Showalter (“The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” “The Big Sick,”) “The Shrink Next Door” has Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell once again joining forces. Based on the podcast of the same name from Joe Nocera, the dark comedy follows a physiatrist, his relationship with one of his patients, and how it turns into a dynamic filled with exploitation, manipulation, and dysfunction. Kathryn Hahn and Casey Wilson also star.
Release Date: The series premieres on November 12 on Apple TV+.
“Marvel’s Hit–Monkey” Season 1
There are two Marvel properties hitting streaming services this month though, in the case of “Marvel’s Hit-Monkey,” the series will be airing on Hulu and is yet another animated output from the studio for one of their stranger characters. Following Hit-Money, an unjust Japanese snow monkey mentored by an American assassin’s ghost, the show will follow him as he damages Tokyo’s crime underworld. Created by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, the series stars Fred Tatasciore as the titular character, with Jason Sudeikis, Olivia Munn, George Takei, and Ally Maki rounding out the supporting cast.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres on November 17 on Hulu.
“The Sex Lives of College Girls” Season 1
The latest series from Mindy Kaling, “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” follows four roommates as they navigate their newfound freedom on the prestigious campus of Essex College. Set in Vermont, the show will deal with the stress and hardships that come from attending college and, for many, being away from home for the first time. The series stars relative newcomers Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp, and Alyah Chanelle Scott.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres on November 18 on HBO Max.
“Hellbound“
Korean Dramas (often referred to as K-Dramas) is having quite a moment on Netflix with series such as “Squid Game” and “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” developing devoted friends and buzz around the shows. “Hellbound,” the latest original Korean drama series through the streaming service, looks to inspire a similar level of activity with an exciting premise. The fantasy series focuses on unearthly beings who deliver condemnations and send individuals to hell, which gives rise to a religious group founded on the idea of divine justice. Yoo Ah-in (“Burning,”) Park Jeong-min and Kim Hyun-joo star and the show is created by “Train to Busan” director Yeon Sang-ho based on his webtoon of the same name.

“Cowboy Bebop” Season 1
An adaptation of the popular anime series of the same name, “Cowboy Bebop,” starring John Cho as bounty hunter Spike Spiegel who, along with his crew Jet (Mustafa Shakir) and Faye (Daniella Pineda), chase down the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals. Created by André Nemec (“Zoo“), the teasers for the series have already promised to rely on source material, with iconic images showing up in the trailer as well as the opening set to the theme song “Tank!” Yoko Kanno, who was the composer for the original series, is also involved in the live-action adaptation, which is a massive win considering how instrumental the music was in setting the tone of the series.

“The Great” Season 2
With its vibrancy and dark comedy, Hulu’s first season of the Elle Fanning starring “The Great” was a critical darling. Season 2 picks up four months after Catherine (Fanning) has launched a coup against her husband as she begins to gain the upper hand in her war against Peter (Nicholas Hoult.) Created by Tony McNamara, best known for his writing credits on “The Favourite” and “Cruella,” our critic praised Hoult’s performance in particular in Season 1, writing, “‘The Great’ is a ten-part testament to Hoult’s commanding star power and the brightness of the wattage he brings is all but blinding.”

“Wheel Of Time” Season 1
Based on the best-selling fantasy series from author Robert Jordan, “The Wheel of Time” is the first of Amazon’s attempts to wade into the epic fantasy pool and create their version of “Game of Thrones” with its “Lord of the Rings” show arriving next year. Rosamund Pike stars as the mysterious Moiraine, a woman who arrives in a small village to whisk away five young people on a journey as she believes one of them may be the reincarnation of the Dragon, a powerful individual who has been prophesied to either save the world or destroy it. Created by Rafe Judkins, the series stars Madeleine Madden, Daniel Henney, Josha Stradowski, Zoë Robins, and Marcus Rutherford. The series has already been picked up for a second season.

“Mayor of Kingstown“ Season 1
Jeremy Renner has a busy month with his upcoming Marvel series and “Mayor of Kingstown,” which looks to be more serious. Created by Taylor Sheridan (“Those Who Wish Me Dead,” “Wind River“) and Hugh Dillon, the series follows the McLusky family—power brokers in Kingston, Mich.—where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Kyle Chandler, Emma Laird, and Dianna Wiest also star in this crime thriller about what it takes to provide justice in a town devoid of it.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres on November 21 on Paramount+.
“Hawkeye” Season 1
While Marvel’s Disney+ shows have arguably been a little hit and miss on a critical level, most audiences, Marvel, and Disney are pretty damn pleased with the results regardless. Based on the trailer, “Hawkeye” looks like it’ll lean into humor much more than the others in what looks like a “home for the holidays” Christmas tale. Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, as he teams up with Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld, as they team up and try to avoid becoming targets themselves. This will mark Steinfeld’s debut into the MCU. Created by Jonathan Igla (“Bridgerton,” “Sorry For Your Loss“), the series will also feature Florence Pugh as the new Black Widow, Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, Alaqua Cox as another Marvel hero and potentially more surprises in store if some of the Netflix/Marvel rumors pan out.

“The Beatles: Get Back“
Regardless of the project or medium, Peter Jackson knows how to swing big when it comes to the projects he produces. His latest, “The Beatles: Get Back,” covers the making of the Beatles’ 1970 album “Let It Be.” The three-part documentary series – being released consecutively over three days – draws material from the 1970 documentary of the album from documentarian Michael Lindsay-Hogg and will offer an intimate and inside look into artists that would define a generation. Each episode will be two hours long and showcase film restoration techniques previously used by Jackson in his last documentary series, “They Shall Not Grow Old.”
