Got a Tip?

Joel Kinnaman Looks To Step In For Tom Hardy In ‘Suicide Squad’

Joel Kinnaman, Suicide SquadSince breaking out to international attention thanks to "Easy Money" and "The Killing," Joel Kinnaman hasn’t quite translated that success to major studio movie roles. Everyone has already forgotten about the rom-com "Lola Versus," and at least the failure of "RoboCop" couldn’t be blamed on him (it was just a bad idea from the start). Next month, he’ll be pairing up with Liam Neeson in "Run All Night," but now it looks like he’s taking another stab at a franchise project.

THR reports that Kinnaman is in early talks to replace Tom Hardy in "Suicide Squad." Jake Gyllenhaal, Joel Edgerton, and Jon Bernthal were previously rumored as possible replacements to play Rick Flag in the comic book movie ensemble flick. The latter are apparently still possibilities, but for right now, Kinnaman is the frontrunner.

Hardy exited the project over scheduling issues and due to the script, which hasn’t been locked yet. And indeed, "Focus" stars Will Smith and Margot Robbie, who both will appear in "Suicide Squad," confirm even they don’t have an idea what the finished, "ever-changing" screenplay looks like. Watch them talk about it below.
