Got a Tip?

Kevin Feige Says The Title For ‘Avengers 4’ Is A Spoiler For ‘Infinity War’

The unstoppable machinery of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues on as ever: “Captain Marvel landed its directors last week, and only this morning, reviews landed for “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2,” which opens imminently, before “Spider-Man: Homecoming” arrives in July and “Thor: Ragnarok” in the fall, then “Black Panther” February, 2018. And as these Phase Three movies arrive, the feeling increases that we’re about to hit the culmination of nearly ten years of work, as our heroes get ready to square off with Thanos (Josh Brolin) for a two-movie battle.

What was once meant to be “Infinity War” Part One and Two turns out to be more complicated than that, though. We’ve known for a while that the second film would have a different, non-“Infinity War” title, and only last week Kevin Feige revealed that the films weren’t actually being shot together, but concurrently, with the fourth “Avengers” actually going before Christmas until August.

And now Feige has spilled some further intriguing beans, to Cinemablend, that the reason that the new title hasn’t yet been revealed is that it’s actually a spoiler. “For sure,” he responded to the site’s question about the sub-title and spoilers, suggesting that “Infiinity War” will drop a big bombshell that early marketing doesn’t want to give away. “Avengers: We Killed Captain America Because Chris Evans’ Contract Ran Out?“ “Avengers: The Real Infinity War Was Love?” “Avengers: Groot Am Keyser Soze?”

Anyway, it sounds like we won’t get any idea of it until after “Infinity War” hits in May 2018, so you’ll just have to hold on. Meanwhile, the MCU head honcho has also suggested to Collider that, after “Avengers 4,” “there is a sense of a climax if not a conclusion to…. the 22 movies that will have encompassed the first three phases of the MCU… what happens after that will be very different. I don’t know if it’s Phase 4, it might be a new thing.” Intriguing… You’ll be able to find out some answers when “Infinity War” hits theaters on May 4th, 2018.
