Writer/Producer Amy Berg Reveals She Got Passed Up By Marvel For 'Hawkeye' Disney+ Series

We’re coming up on the start of Disney’s D23 convention. And at the event, it’s expected that Marvel Studios will have a panel that will maybe rival the recent San Diego Comic-Con Phase 4 unveiling. What exactly that entails is anyone’s guess at this point. However, it would appear that there could at least be some more info about some of the Disney+ streaming series, such as “Hawkeye.”

How do we know this? Well, thanks to TV writer/producer Amy Berg, we have an idea that Marvel Studios has already decided who is going to be the showrunner of “Hawkeye.” And unfortunately for Berg, she knows that it’s not going to be her and she’s a little hurt by that news.

“I haven’t lost out on many jobs over my career, but I lost out on one today that stings just a bit. Sad to say, you’re not going to see my take on these two. I think you would’ve loved it,” wrote Berg on her Twitter.

Berg is probably best known as the writer for a bunch of TV series including genre selections like “The 4400” and “Eureka.” Clearly, she had an idea that she really liked for “Hawkeye” that fans will never be able to see.

Not much is known about the upcoming “Hawkeye.” Marvel Studios announced that Jeremy Renner would star in the series and that it would introduce the popular comic book character Kate Bishop, who is the young woman that shares the Hawkeye name with the popular Avenger. Many assume that the series will be the end of the run for Renner, as he passes the torch to the next Hawkeye.

Other than that, all we know is that “Hawkeye” will debut on Disney+ sometime in fall 2021.
