Mark Ruffalo Confirms Upcoming 'Avengers 4' Reshoots Are More Significant Than We Initially Thought

Watching “Avengers: Infinity War,” you’d be hard-pressed to find a film featuring that many A-list stars occupying the same space all at once. However, Marvel Studios was able to do it, but it wasn’t easy. Taking the better part of 2017, the directors Joe and Anthony Russo filmed both ‘Infinity War’ and the upcoming “Avengers 4” back-to-back. This is due to the fact that getting all those actors together is a massive challenge. Well, the duo is getting the gang back together again for reshoots this month, and according to one Avenger, it’s not just your typical pick-ups they’re shooting.

In an interview with The Marvelists Podcast, actor Mark Ruffalo was asked about the schedule he has between now and the spring release of “Avengers 4.” As you might imagine most of the time is spent with the international tour, which he likens to an “Aerosmith” tour. However, he did shed some light on the upcoming reshoots, and apparently, the folks at Marvel Studios still have an ending to figure out.

Ruffalo explained:

“Well we’re doing reshoots starting in September. And then we’ll go back into the international tour, we’ll go on tour… Then you guys will get [‘Avengers 4’]. Which we don’t even know what it’s gonna be yet. We’re not just doing reshoots, we’re going to finish the movie, which we really didn’t get to finish totally when we left it last year.”

While it may be alarming that it appears the reshoots are more than just some extra scenes to flesh out the film, Marvel Studios has been one of the biggest proponents to reshooting its films, due to the massive expectations and money on the line. Perhaps, Ruffalo is exaggerating a bit, which is fine, but his comments do fall in line with something Dave Bautista said in his many, many, many comments about the recent James Gunn firing.

Bautista said that the firing could affect the ending of “Avengers 4.” It would seem that could be the case, if Ruffalo is correct and the reshoots are more significant than let on. The comments also prove that we weren’t being lied to for months when the stars of the film swore they didn’t know how the saga is coming to an end.

Regardless, we won’t find out anything about the shoot until “Avengers 4” is released in May (or April) 2019.
