Millie Bobby Brown Debunks Rumors That She's Starring In Marvel's 'The Eternals'

With the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as murky as it’s ever been following the recent releases of “Avengers: Endgame” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” the rumor mill continues to turn at Mach 1 when it comes to future projects and the stars attached to them. But at least one high-profile name is going out of her way to debunk whispers of her involvement, specifically in the upcoming Chloé Zhao-directed “The Eternals.”

The movie is already rumored to sport an enticing, borderline prestige cast – yes, there are A-listers out there who haven’t yet treaded MCU waters – but “Stranger Things’Millie Bobby Brown took to social media this week to dispute reports that she’s part of it.

Variety included the young actress’s name among those rumored to be attached to “The Eternals” in a San Diego Comic-Con preview this week. For what it’s worth, the move only seems fitting for Browns’s rising star, amid a summer that’s seen her play leading roles on the big screen in “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” and the small, via the return of the ever-popular “Stranger Things” on Netflix.

MCU gatekeeper Kevin Feige, however, recently refrained from confirming Brown or action film legend Donnie Yen in the movie’s cast when he said, “Both good actors that would be fun to see in the MCU. But nothing specific or nothing to talk about.”

But talk is exactly what Brown did, going straight to her fans to debunk rumors of her involvement on Instagram this week.

“Everyone thinks I’m going to be in a Marvel movie. Not that I know of,” she said. “My family and I have no idea. So I just wanted to let everybody know that I am not as of right now.”

So there you have it, straight from Brown herself, although it wouldn’t be the first time an actor or actress tried to snuff out the rumor winds only for audiences to find, down the road, that they were true after all. That could very well be the case for Brown and the MCU…which may want to keep the possibility of using her talents in its back pocket once it inevitably introduces the X-Men into its sprawling universe. Brown as Kitty Pryde, anyone?

Few details have been outright confirmed about “The Eternals,” but expect some light to be shed by Marvel Studios at SDCC when it begins next week.
