Reese Witherspoon To Star In Two New Netflix Films, 'Your Place Or Mine' & 'The Cactus'

So far, Reese Witherspoon has been touring all the local streaming services, testing out what each has to offer. There’s been her TV series, “The Morning Show,” on Apple TV+. She’s also recently appeared in the Hulu series, “Little Fires Everywhere.” The actress-producer has even pitched in to help Quibi. Now, it appears that Witherspoon is venturing into Netflix territory to produce and star in two new feature films for the company.

According to Deadline, Witherspoon has signed on to star in and produce the upcoming films, “Your Place or Mine” and “The Cactus,” both of which will premiere on Netflix. The former is a rom-com about two long-distance best friends, a man and a woman, who take their relationship to the next level when the woman takes off to fulfill a lifelong dream and the man volunteers to watch over her teenage son. The latter is a drama about a 45-year-old woman that finds herself unexpectedly pregnant and forced to reevaluate her life and aspirations.

“We have been looking for the right feature opportunities to collaborate with Ted Sarandos, Scott Stuber and the entire team at Netflix for a while and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with them on these two romantic comedies,” Witherspoon said. “Both Sarah Haywood’s and Aline Brosh McKenna’s stories blend everything we love about traditional Rom-Coms with strong, smart and determined female leads.”

Netflix Films’ Scott Stuber added, “We are thrilled to work alongside our long-standing partners and friends, Jason and Michael at Aggregate on ‘Your Place or Mine.’ They brought us this brilliantly funny romantic comedy from Aline that we immediately fell in love with and can’t wait to work with the Aggregate and Hello Sunshine teams on bringing it to life. Reese and her team at Hello Sunshine have made a tremendous mark on the industry and we’re excited to have found two terrific projects to collaborate with them on.”
