Okay, so "Jupiter Ascending" was a total nightmare and let’s never talk about it again, but for those who still hope that The Wachowskis can truly deliver the kind of original sci-fi fans have been waiting for since "The Matrix," they have another shot with Netflix‘s "Sense8." And it already sounds fucking bonkers.
"We told Netflix we were like, ‘We’re only interested in doing this. It’s going to be so hard, it’s not very much money. We’re only interested in it if we can do anything. And I mean anything. Like crazy psychic orgies with all sorts of different bodies.’ And they were like, ‘Yeah sure, cool great,’ " Lana Wachowski said last month, with Andy adding: "It’s science fiction but it’s more about humanity. It’s about everything…we have live births…Babies coming out of vaginas…" Um, okay. Now here’s an actual synopsis that sounds a little more manageable, but no less grandiose:
One gunshot, one death, one moment out of time that irrevocably links eight minds in disparate parts of the world, putting them in each other’s lives, each other’s secrets, and in terrible danger. Ordinary people suddenly reborn as "Sensates."
So, like "Babel" but with brain orgies? Well, Netflix has let it be known today that you can find out when "Sense8" arrives on June 5th.
