If Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon & The Winter Soldier” promises a new Captain America and “WandaVision” promises some serious weirdness, then the calling card for “Loki,” at this point, is the incredible cast. According to Variety, Grant is the latest actor to join the upcoming “Loki” streaming series that is currently filming. As is typical of Marvel Studios productions, his exact role in the series is being kept under wraps but the report claims that Grant’s appearance in the show will be relegated to only a single episode.

“Loki” picks up where “Avengers: Endgame” left off, with the God of Mischief in possession of the Tesseract, which allows him to travel throughout various times in history. Along the way, he draws the ire of Marvel’s version of time police, the TVA, and the rest is a mystery. Grant joins a cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Sophia Di Martino.

Grant is no stranger to big-budget genre fare. Most recently, audiences saw him as one of the villains in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” And before that, he appeared in the superhero film “Logan,” as well as the fantasy epic series “Game of Thrones.” Of course, he was nominated for an Oscar in 2019 for his role in the drama “Can You Ever Forgive Me?

While a release date has not been confirmed for “Loki,” the series is expected to be released in early 2021, with all episodes directed by Kate Herron.
