Shawn Levy Takes Over 'This Is Where I Leave You' From Adam Shankman

nullPutting together a cast that included Jason Bateman, Zac Efron, Goldie Hawn, Leslie Mann, Malin Akerman and Jason Sudeikis, earlier this year things were looking good for Adam Shankman's "This Is Where I Leave You." But when we caught up with the director last month at the Savannah Film Festival, he told us the movie was on hold, something that "destroyed" him because it had "literally everything I wanted to do" within it. And unfortunately it won't be returning to him, as a new director is now on board.

Shawn Levy ("Date Night," "Real Steel") is now sitting in the director's chair on the comedy project for Warner Bros. Based on the acclaimed novel by Jonathan Tropper, the story centers on a patriarch who dies, having requested that his non-reglious, dysfunctional family sit Shivah for seven days. The director and author have a bit of history, as they worked together on the script for Levy's Kodachrome road trip drama, and they'll pair up again here, with plans to give the script another once over and a shoot scheduled for next summer.

As for the cast? It's going to be up to scheduling to see who stays or goes. For now Levy will be putting the finishing touches on his next effort, "The Internship," starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. [Variety]
