‘Sirāt’ Trailer: Oliver Laxe’s Cannes-Winning Desert Odyssey Gets One-Week NEON Theatrical Run Before Opening Wide In 2026

After earning raves on the international festival circuit, NEON has released the trailer for “Sirāt,” the acclaimed new film from French-born Spanish film director, screenwriter, and Oliver Laxe, winner of the Jury Prize at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The Moroccan-set odyssey will receive a one-week limited release beginning November 13, playing at Film at Lincoln Center in New York and AMC Burbank 16 in Los Angeles, before expanding nationwide in 2026.

Following celebrated works like “Mimosas” and “Fire Will Come,” Laxe continues his mystical exploration of faith, nature, and human surrender with “Sirāt.” The film follows a father and his young son as they search for a missing daughter who has become entangled in Morocco’s underground rave culture. Their journey with a band of nomads leads them deeper into the desert, where the elements, spiritual unrest, and human cruelty collide.

The film has already become one of the year’s most acclaimed arthouse titles, winning the Jury Prize at Cannes, the Gold Hugo for Best Film at the Chicago International Film Festival, and Best Film at the Montclair Film Festival, while earning Best Director and Best Picture nominations at the 2025 Gotham Awards. It was also an official selection at NYFF63 and TIFF55.

The cast features Sergi López as Luis, Bruno Núñez Arjona as Esteban, Richard Bellamy as Bigui, Stefania Gadda as Stef, Joshua Liam Henderson as Josh, Tonin Janvier as Tonin and Jade Oukid as Jade.

In our Cannes review, The Playlist’s writer Gregory Ellwood called the film “a vision of both ruin and rapture,” praising Laxe’s “commitment to the divine as a cinematic language” and describing “Sirāt” as “a spiritual epic where love and faith flicker like firelight in the encroaching dark.”

Laxe will appear in person for Q&A screenings at Film at Lincoln Center on November 13 (6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.) and at AMC Burbank on November 14 and 15 (7:00 p.m. both nights). “Sirāt” will open wide in 2026. Watch the first teaser below.
