Watch: New Trailer For Alex Gibney's Cyberwar Documentary 'Zero Days'

Going Clear: Scientology and the Process of Belief” is one of the more powerful documentaries on the subject of Scientology to see a major release in years, though we all know the film’s release didn’t lack for controversy. Alex Gibney, the film’s director, is a good documentarian in that he has a keen nose for bullshit and a willingness to peer into corners of our world that most would turn a blind eye towards. For Gibney’s latest expose, he’s picked a doozy of a topic: cyber terrorism and, more specifically, the Stuxnet malware worm that destroyed a great many of Iran’s nuclear centrifuges. The film is called “Zero Days” and a new trailer has just landed online to give you a taste of what Gibney’s latest has in store.

Stuxnet is widely believed to be a joint military effort between the United States and Israel, but Gibney seems to be making the argument that the worm itself is just the tip of a very large iceberg and that the real chaos is still to come. The implications of this are, of course, almost inconceivably frightening, but Gibney’s doc looks sharp, incisive and focused. Throughout the trailer, there are grim and ominous intonations of 1945 and the advent of nuclear war, as well as conspiratorial whispers about malfeasance and duplicity at the highest levels of the government. It’s quite a subject for the talented filmmaker, and we’re very excited to see what Gibney has up his sleeve with this one.
