First Look: Marvel Releases ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Production Start Teaser

Get hype, Marvel fans. “Avengers: Infinity War” has started production (Jan 23, 2017) and as a treat for fans, Marvel Studios has released a behind-the-scenes production start teaser with some new dialogue (from Benicio del Toro‘s The Collector character), old footage, some concept art (a brief shot of Thor and Rocket Raccoon in the same frame fighting together) and some action from the set of the new film. Plus, a set meeting of three actors who have never been on screen together before Robert Downey Jr., Tom Holland and Chris Pratt. And according to Downey Jr. it’s going to be a year-long production which likely means they shoot the two-part films back to back.

” ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as started in May of 2008 with the release of ‘Iron Man‘ one,” Kevin Feige says in the clip that goes on for a long 3 and a half minutes. “And it’s really an unprecedented culmination of a series of films, interlinked together.”

How do the Avengers face a character like Thanos and make it fresh and exciting? “You tear them apart,” the Marvel chief says, “which is why we did ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ before ‘Infinity War.'”

The collective filmmakers even give out a kind of logline synopsis of the opening of the film. “Tony [Stark] is not talking to Steve [Rodgers], the Avengers are basically a name with nobody in it, the world is vulnerable,” o-screenwriter Christopher Markus says with his partner Stephen McFeely. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo reveal even more. “Tony senses this even greater threat approaching so he is doing everything in his power to keep the earth safe.” An interesting set-up for Joe promises will be a “combustible, exciting and massive-scale adventure.”

“Avengers: Infinity War” features pretty much everyone in the Marvel Universe and yes that includes Spider-Man (confirmed earlier in a FB live), Benicio Del Toro’s The Collector and yep, a crossover with the characters from “Guardians Of The Galaxy.” ‘Infinity Wars’ hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
