The circle of trust is expanding again. The first trailer for “Focker-In-Law” has arrived, bringing Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro back together for another round of familial chaos in the long-running “Meet the Parents” universe. This fourth film in the franchise opens in theaters on November 25, 2026, with John Hamburg—who co-wrote the earlier entries—writing and directing this new chapter.
This time, the comedy engine gets a new jolt with Ariana Grande joining the ensemble alongside returning franchise players Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner, and Teri Polo, with Skyler Gisondo, Beanie Feldstein, and Eduardo Franco also in the cast. The setup appears to push the series’ familiar generational tension forward, handing a new would-be in-law the unenviable task of surviving the Focker-Byrnes family gauntlet.
Hamburg’s return is probably the key detail here. He helped define the rhythm and discomfort-comedy DNA of the earlier films, and “Focker-In-Law” looks aimed at reviving that same clash-of-personalities formula that made the first trilogy such a durable studio comedy brand. Universal has the film dated squarely for the Thanksgiving corridor, which makes sense for a franchise built on family dysfunction, generational panic, and the kind of holiday-table tension that can turn any introduction into a crisis.
The “Meet the Parents” films have been offscreen for a long time, but the basic comic premise clearly still has some juice—especially with Stiller and De Niro back in the middle of it and Grande stepping into the crossfire. “Focker-In-Law” opens in theaters this Thanksgiving, on November 25.
