‘The Penguin’ In-Production Teaser: Colin Farrell Returns To Become Gotham’s New Kingpin In The Max Original Series

At the end of Matt Reeve‘s ‘The Batman,’ Carmine Falcone’s death leaves the Gotham underworld without a kingpin. And as far as Colin Farrell‘s Oswald Copplepot is concerned, that position is his for the taking. That’s the driving force behind “The Penguin,” the upcoming Max original series, in production now.

And Warner Bros. Discovery has a new in-production teaser for the series to help launch its rebranding of HBO Max to Max. And even though the show is still shooting, the trailer has plenty of new footage of Farrell being as nasty as ever as The Penguin. From the looks of things, that power vacuum in Gotham has already been filled.

Alongside Farrell, “The Penguin” also stars Cristin MiliotiRhenzy FelizMichael KellyShohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell. The eight-episode series also stars Clancy Brown, Theo Rossi, and Michael Zegen in recurring roles.

Farrell and Reeves executive produce the series will Dylan Clark, writer and showrunner Lauren LeFrancBill Carraro, and Craig Zobel, who direct the show’s first three episodes.  Warner Bros. Television oversees production with Reeves’ 6th & Idaho Productions and Dylan Clark Productions.  Daniel Pipski and Rafi Chron also serve as executive producers.

There’s no word yet on when “The Penguin” premieres on Max. Maybe at the end of this year? 2024 feels more likely, as “The Batman: Part II” doesn’t hit theaters until October 3, 2025. Check out the new in-production teaser for the series below.
