Podcasters who investigate murders have already turned into a giant hit for Hulu with Steve Martin and Martin Short’s “Only Murders In The Building.” Well, Netflix can play that game too, albeit slightly differently in the new Irish comedic thriller series, “Bodkin.”

The series stars Siobhán Cullen (Dove), Robyn Cara (Emmy), Chris Walley (Sean O’Shea), David Wilmot (Seamus), and Will Forte (Gilbert). “Bodkin” centers on a group of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic Irish town. But throughout the inquiry, when more clues arrive, they realize there is much more to the thread they are chasing.
Jez Scharf (“Mister Biscuits,” “The UnDream”) is the creator / co-showrunner / executive producer along with Alex Metcalf (“The Loudest Voice,” “Sharp Objects,” Netflix’s “Kingdom”) as co-showrunner / executive Producer. Nash Edgerton (“Mr. Inbetween”) is the drama’s lead director. Here’s the official synopsis:
BODKIN is a dark comedic thriller about a motley crew of podcasters (Will Forte, Siobhán Cullen, Robyn Cara) who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in a quaint, coastal Irish town. But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined. As our heroes try to discern fact from fiction — about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, themselves — the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.
One hour long each, the seven episodes of “Bodkin” debut on Netflix on May 9. Check out the first trailer below.
