Whit Stillman is going back in time a couple of ways with his upcoming "Love & Friendship." First, he’s reteaming with “The Last Days of Disco” leads Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny, and then, he’s adapting Jane Austen’s novella “Lady Susan,” which was posthumously published. And now, the first look at Stillman’s first period movie is here.
Also starring Xavier Samuel, Emma Greenwell, Morfydd Clark, Jemma Redgrave, James Fleet, Tom Bennett and Justin Edwards, the story follows the beautiful widow Lady Susan Vernon, who has come to the estate of her in-laws to wait out the colorful rumors about her dalliances circulating through polite society. While ensconced there, she decides to secure a husband for herself and her rather reluctant debutante daughter, Frederica.
No release date or distributors lined up just yet, and it probably won’t be until 2016 that this hits the festival circuit, so sit tight and hopefully this image can tide you over.
