Shooting stars on Matt Ross‘ “Kockroach” next week, and Deadline reports that a last-minute name has joined its cast. It’s quite a buzzy one, too: “I Love LA” star and writer Rachel Sennott.

Sennott joins lead Taron Egerton, Chris Hemsworth, Zazie Beetz, and Alec Baldwin on the NYC-set crime pic. Based on William Lashner‘s novel of the same name, “Kockroach” is Franz Kafka‘s “Metamorphosis” set in the city’s criminal underworld, and follows a mysterious stranger who transforms himself into a larger-than-life kingpin. Jonathan Ames adapts Lashner’s novel for the big screen, with Ross providing revisions.
As noted earlier, production on “Kockroach” starts next week in Australia. Producers for the film include Andrew Lazar and Christina Weiss Lurie. Hemsworth joined the cast back in February, replacing Channing Tatum, who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
So who will Sennott play in “Kockroach”? That’s under wraps for now. The Hollywood up-and-comer recently starred in A24‘s Charli xcx mockumentary “The Moment,” and is currently leading the writers’ room for Season 2 of her HBO hit “I Love LA.” The multi-hyphenate also co-writes the script for “The Heidi Fleiss Story,” starring Aubrey Plaza, another project that shoots later this year.
Expect “Kockroach” to hit theaters sometime in 2027.
