Mark Wahlberg Says "Greedy" People Holding Up The "Entourage" Movie, Vincent Chase Responds

For a certain fanbase whose actual numbers are foggy at this point, a film version of HBO‘s “Entourage” seemed excitingly close to fruition at the start of this year, pulling together a script from series creator Doug Ellin and WB greenlighting it for Ellin to also direct. But soon off-camera drama worthy of an episode started to unfold, with word that contract negotiations with specifically star Adrian Grenier were holding up production, but now with the entire project’s future called into question, executive producer Mark Wahlberg has piped up with a brief comment, while Grenier has responded with an extended take.

“Loading Zone at LAX” may not seem like the most ideal place to announce your views to the press, but—when asked by TMZ when the “Entourage” film is coming—Mark Wahlberg nonetheless took the opportunity recently to reply, “As soon as them guys stop being so greedy.” He didn’t confirm or deny the talk surrounding Grenier, but rather he spoke of the project in a “long-term” sense, saying “if the movie’s a success, we’ll get to make a lot more of them and then we’ll probably make a lot of money.”

Shortly thereafter, Grenier took to his Instagram account to provide his own perspective; written over a press photo of his character, Vince “Vinnie” Chase, and his boys (Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Connolly, and Kevin Dillon), he wrote: “I take my role as Vince on the show and off very seriously. All decisions I make personally and for business are for the principle of friendship and brotherhood. It has, and never will be about the money for me. I promise.” Grenier stresses later that he “will sign any deal that gives ALL the boys an opportunity to share in the upside of success EQUALLY,” which may come as joyous news to Ferrara, who said that he’d do the film “for free.”

Thus far, Jeremy Piven and Connolly have reportedly signed onto the flick; only time will tell if Grenier, Dillon, and Ferrara will join them in their debatably warranted big screen endeavor. [via AV Club]
