TIFF Exclusive: A Misunderstanding Gets Heated In Clip From Thriller 'Backcountry'

BackcountryWhile Xavier Dolan and David Cronenberg tend to grab the headlines when it comes to the homegrown talent featured at TIFF, there are plenty of other Canadian filmmakers hoping an appearance at the fest will give them a boost. And writer/director Adam MacDonald is aiming for his feature debut "Backcountry" to put him on the map.

Starring Missy Peregrym, Jeff Roop, Eric Balfour and Nicholas Campbell, the thriller uses Canada’s beautiful landscape to spin a gritty, pulse-pounding tale. The story follows a young couple, Jenn and Alex, who retreat to the woods for a break from big city life. But things take a turn when they encounter Brad, a strange man on his own, and what soon follows will test the lovers far more than they bargained for. In this exclusive clip, you can feel the tension in the air between Jenn, Alex and Eric.

"Backcountry" has its final screening at TIFF tonight. Check out the clip and poster below.
