Watch: 20-Minute David Lynch Documentary 'Room To Dream'

nullWhen David Lynch isn’t making films, he looks to spend a lot of time into talking about making films. Every other day there seems to be a new documentary/featurette cropping up where Lynch talks about filmmaking and how beautifully poetic it is. As far as we’re concerned, he can just keep doing that. The man is incredibly well versed and endlessly fascinating and in the 2005 doc “Room to Dream: David Lynch and the Independent Filmmaker,” Lynch upholds his track record of being a wealth of knowledge by offering advice and pearls of wisdom to new filmmakers about the evolving independent scene.

In the twenty minute interview, Lynch touches upon how the advent of technology has allowed the independent filmmakers greater access to tools and techniques than ever before. Did a jet just fly by and ruin a perfect scene? In years gone by, it might have been a disastrous moment, but new audio tools and editing software have removed such headaches. These are the kinds of advances that Lynch praises and promotes as he encourages new filmmakers to take advantage of them.  Along with musing about the future of independent filmmakers, the interview goes behind-the-scenes as Lynch shoots one of his short films and utilizes the methods and ideas he suggests to new directors.
