In the works for at a half decade, dream projects don’t come along any raunchier than "Sausage Party." Featuring the voices of Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Michael Cera, Edward Norton, Bill Hader, Salma Hayek, and directed by Conrad Vernon ("Shrek 2," "Monsters vs. Aliens") and Greg Tiernan ("Thomas & Friends"), the story follows a sausage who falls out of a shopping cart and embarks with his foodie friends on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the 4th of July sale. Here’s the official synopsis:
Sausage Party, the first R-rated CG animated movie, is about one sausage leading a group of supermarket products on a quest to discover the truth about their existence and what really happens when they become chosen to leave the grocery store. The film features the vocal talents of a who’s who of today’s comedy stars – Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek.
"Imagine if ‘Shrek‘ was R-rated, a very hard and aggressive R. It takes place in a supermarket," is how Hill described the movie. Basically, this ain’t "Zootopia." "Sausage Party" opens on August 12th. Watch below.
