We're a few short weeks from Comic-Con, where geeks will have their minds blown by cosplay girls by oodles of footage, images and other goodies unveiled by studios and filmmakers, as they hawk their genre wares. And Guillermo del Toro, a longstanding fixture in San Diego, is set to return, but this time with a brand new film, his first since 2008's "Hellboy II: The Golden Army." And while there will likely be much more on the Comic-Con floor, we'll take what we can get for now.
The folks over Shock Til You Drop have scanned a new image from the film that has appeared in the latest issue of EW, giving us our first look at Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi in the movie. So far, the images from the flick have focused on the space-suited heroes (take a look at Idris Elba right here), but nothing yet of the monsters they face and we'd guess del Toro will be keeping those under wraps as long as humanly possible. As you might recall, the Travis Beacham-scripted tale is set in 2025, and will follow a human resistance against a series of devastating attacks that threaten to destroy Earth. Charlie Day, Rob Kazinsky, Max Martini, Clifton Collins Jr. and Diego Klattenhoff round out the cast.
"Pacific Rim" gets wet on May 10, 2013.
