We are mere days away from the opening night of the 59th New York Film Festival. And in honor of NYFF kicking off, we have an exclusive look at the trailer for the upcoming event.
This year’s NYFF is jam-packed with some of the best cinema of 2021, featuring dozens of amazing films from around the world, including some highly anticipated world premieres. Perhaps the biggest world premiere actually happens opening night with the debut of Joel Coen’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” which stars Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand.

Joining ‘Macbeth’ in the Main Slate are acclaimed films such as “Titane,” “The Power of the Dog,” “Parallel Mothers,” “Memoria,” “Drive My Car,” “Passing,” and “Benedetta.” And if you’re more interested in seeing some old classics, NYFF has you covered with revivals such as “Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song,” “Hester Street,” “Ratcatcher,” and “Assault on Precinct 13.” Also, if you’re anxiously awaiting the upcoming release of Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic, “Dune,” NYFF will have screenings of the new film.

Overall, there’s an absolute wealth of cinema coming to NYFF this year. And much like last year, the 2021 event will feature indoor and outdoor events all around New York City, as long as you have your proof of COVID vax and/or negative COVID test.
