Steven Spielberg might just be the general public’s favorite director. The filmmaker practically invented the modern blockbuster as we know it with “Jaws,” “E.T.,” the ‘Indian Jones’ films, and something called “Jurassic Park,” while also managing to craft some of the finest adult dramas around. His films truly were, and often still are, four quadrant hits, and in addition to pioneering visual spectacle and CG, he manages to generally knock it out of the park each time he’s at bat. All of which has helped a handful of his movies to reach the status of true classics.

Since his films have become so iconic, many have worked their way to a permanent place in pop culture. Even more, certain scenes have become quintessentially American, images that remind us of childhood and adventure, that literally represent moviegoing. To highlight some of these magical movie moments, a new two-and-a-half-minute supercut has arrived. “Spielberg In 30 Shots” does just what it promises, breaking down the legendary director and his career into 30 of the most famous images from cinematic history. Edited together by Jacob T. Swinney, all the classics are featured: the girl in the red coat, the vibrating cup of water, Indiana Jones and his father riding off into the sunset, Tom Hanks on his knees on Normandy, Leonardo DiCaprio emerging from a car with a gaggle of flight attendants, and many more.
