With the ever expanding Marvel universe continuing to grow at a rapid rate — next week sees the launch of “Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” while an “Agent Carter” series is currently in the works — and Phase Two already mapped out, attention and speculation is now being turned to Phase Three, and what heroes the comic studio will bring next to the big screen.

First up, Stan Lee recently spoke with Too Fab and rattled off “Black Panther,” “Doctor Strange,” and “The Inhumans” as properties the studio is mulling. All three have been tossed around for the past couple of years in one way or the other, so they aren’t all that surprising. Of the there, “Doctor Strange” seems the closest to being a reality, with Kevin Feige mentioning over the summer that it’s “next up.” Meanwhile, HitFix makes a pretty interesting argument that “The Inhumans” could be a sideways entry for Marvel into the world of “mutants,” since they can’t legally use that word in their films due to Fox‘s ownership of “X-Men.” Though as the publication wisely notes, “As strange as it sounds, I’m not sure I’d put Stan Lee on the short list of credible sources when it comes to Marvel’s upcoming plans.” So yeah, he may not have a clue either.

Meanwhile, Lee also casually mentions “Black Widow” as a maybe for her own film, and whether or not that happens, it seems a female driven Marvel movie is in the works.  “There are definitely many strong [Marvel] women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character, which I think is coming – I have heard is coming,” Natalie Portman, star of “Thor: The Dark World,” told SciFiNow. “And, of course, also a central non-white character will also be exciting… But they do definitely have strong female characters in them and I think it’s a testament to the people who run Marvel, their respect, their just normal human respect for women, the way they want to characterize them; you can tell when men talk to you, as just a person or as a ‘woman.’ “

So, lots of potential and possibility, though nothing is official until it comes from the mouth or press release button from Kevin Feige and Marvel. “Thor: The Dark World” is next and arrives on November 6th. Here’s Stan Lee talking movies (and what he thinks of Ben Affleck as Batman) as well as two new posters for ‘Thor.’
