Watch: Trailer For Mike Newell's 'Great Expectations' Featuring Ralph Fiennes & Helena Bonham Carter

Gotta admit, we sort of totally forgot about this movie entirely. After playing TIFF to rather muted notice last fall and being released all over the place elsewhere in the world, Mike Newell‘s “Great Expectations” is finally seeing release in stateside theaters. And well, it’s certainly very costume drama-esque, as you might expect.

Starring Jeremy Irvine in the lead role as Pip, with Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham, Ralph Fiennes as Magwitch, and Holliday Grainger as Estella, the movie doesn’t seem to offer much of a compelling reason to exist over previous film and TV incarnations, though our review out of TIFF did note there were some slight tweaks. However, it wasn’t enough as “superficially there’s a lot to admire, but few things to actually fall in love with. It falters under the weight of its expectations.” Zing.

But for Charles Dickens diehards, this is probably the equivalent of the next Christopher Nolan movie or something. So watch below and find the film in limited release starting on November 8th. [Deadline]
