'All Creatures Here Below' Trailer: Karen Gillan & David Dastmalchian Are Lovers On The Run

Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s stars are heading to the small screen. Fans will next see Karen Gillan (“Guardians Of The Galaxy) and David Dastmalchian (“Ant-Man“) in the independent drama, “All Creatures Here Below.” For this film, the pair will forgo the superhero genre for an intimate, intense film.

Gillan and Dastmalchian will play Ruby and Gensan, a young couple on the run. When Gensan loses his job, the pair retreat to Kansas City, a place Ruby does not have pleasant feelings for. She’s afraid of the city, and more so, wants to start their idyllic family despite the poverty they live in. Following a crime the two head out on the run. Only to lead a string of obstacles in their wake.

The trailer alone shows off a completely different set of acting skills for both actors. It’s a close-quartered examination of desperate circumstances in this harsh world. Just the past year, Gillan made herself known in the independent filmmaking world with her feature-length directorial “The Party’s Just Beginning,” co-starring yet another fellow MCU actor, Lee Pace.

Dastmalchian has also done plenty outside the MCU. He’s probably best known for his incredibly creepy performance in the film “Prisoners,” but has also been seen in “Blade Runner 2049,” “The Belko Experiment,” and “The Dark Knight.”

“All Creatures Here Below” will have its world premiere on October 18 at the DTLA Film Festival.

Here’s the trailer and full synopsis:

Gensan and Ruby (Dastmalchian and Gillan) struggle to thrive in the face of abject poverty. When Gensan loses his job and is forced to break the law, he sets out on the run with Ruby across the country, to seek refuge in Kansas City, a place Ruby’s deeply afraid of. Ruby’s indelible choices, and desire to make a family, complicate their journey to freedom.
