“Outlander” is one of the crown jewels in the “Hey, you really should check out this show that I watch!” category of TV series. You know the ones –“Peaky Blinders,” “Schitt’s Creek,” “The Good Fight,” “Ozark,” and numerous others. These are all series that your friend swears by and you add to your queue of things to binge, but something always gets in the way. But yes, you’re sure that it’s great.
Well, “Outlander” is entering its fifth season and has been nominated for no less than a half-dozen Golden Globes. But for the life of me, I can’t just seem to get around to watching it. However, for those viewers that are fans of the series and the best-selling novels that inspired the show, “Outlander” isn’t just a decent show, it’s maybe one of the best to grace the small screen over the last half-decade.
In the short synopsis for the upcoming season, “Outlander” is said to follow the Frasers, who “will fight time, space, and history to protect their family.”
“Outlander” stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, as the two romantic leads in the time-traveling fantasy series. While neither has truly been able to use this acclaimed series as a launching point into massive stardom, it does appear that Balfe is on the fast-track, with a role in the upcoming “Ford v Ferrari.”
“It’s so wonderful to be able to play a relationship that keeps growing and deepening, and that’s something you see this season,” said Balfe (via EW). “The love they have for each other keeps expanding. It’s just their knowledge of each other and how intimately they know what’s going on inside each other.”
Heughan added, “We had a scene the other day where we made love without making love!”
“Outlander” Season 5 is set to arrive on Starz on February 16. If you, like me, have yet to watch and want to binge the first four seasons, they’re available on the Starz app.
