Stanley Tucci Joins Michael Bay's 'Transformers 4'

nullWhen a franchise makes a third film and it winds up making a ton of money, talk of a fourth film is inevitable even if key cast and crew members are not on board. Think about “Pirates of the Caribbean,” when everyone but Johnny Depp dropped out for the fourth movie; or “Spider-Man,” when complications surrounding a possible fourth movie led to a complete reboot. So, it should come as no surprise when Shia Labeouf dropped out of the fourth “Transformers” film, eventually these actors and filmmakers want to move on to other things without having to remain committed to a franchise every other year. Sure, Michael Bay stuck around for “Transformers 4”, but not without forcing Paramount to let him make another movie first (“Pain & Gain”).

That said, a fourth “Transformers” continues to move forward with Bay announcing to CinemaCon yesterday evening that Stanley Tucci has signed on to the film. He’s added to a cast that includes Mark Wahlberg, as well as relative newcomers Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz. And Josh Duhamel may actually return to the franchise too. This will be the first time the Oscar-nominated Tucci will be working with Bay, but he’s certainly no stranger to big-budget tentpoles, having recently appeared in “The Hunger Games”, “Jack the Giant Slayer” and “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

Taking his cues from Christopher Nolan and JJ Abrams, Bay has remained silent regarding any plot details for the film. So, for those who are desperate to figure out what the plot of “Transformers 4” entails (all five of you, that is), you’ll have to wait until June 27th, 2014 when it comes out everywhere. [ComingSoon]
