Got a Tip?

‘Twilight’ Author Stephenie Meyer Says She Has More Stories Planned, Will More Films Be Made?

It’s pretty clear that we aren’t the demographic or audience for the “Twilight” series of films, but it’s also obvious that we’re a small contingent, as all of the films continue to be box office successes – with 2011’s fourth installment, “Breaking Dawn: Part 1,” raking in over $700 million worldwide. Lucrative is putting it lightly, but at the center of it all has been author Stephenie Meyer, who kickstarted this phenomenon of epic proportions with the book series that saw its first release back in 2005. While the book series ended a few years back, we’re only just reaching the conclusion of the films with “Breaking Dawn: Part 2” in just a couple of short weeks – but now it looks as if that may not be all the stories Meyer has left to tell about the bloodsuckers and lycanthropes who inhabit Forks, Washington.

As anyone keeping up with the series will know, Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) have now had a child named Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy), and as this child is rapidly aging, there’s room for her to have a relationship with Bella’s former suitor Jacob (Taylor Lautner). Asked if she had any plans to further explore these relationships, with Renesmee serving as the lead of a new generation of “Twilight” books at a press conference for the film today in Los Angeles, Meyer teased that, “I even planned out where it would go for a couple more books. So I know exactly what would happen, I mean there are a lot of characters I think would have a voice in those other stories. I don’t know, maybe I’ll write it out someday for myself.” Producer Wyck Godfrey joked that “we keep sending her the George Lucas press releases,”suggesting that maybe someone else could take Meyer’s treatments and carry the “Twilight” story further down the road.

Since even “Harry Potter”author J.K. Rowling has hinted at more adventures within her world, we can certainly imagine Meyer diving back into the well of vampire and werewolf stories all over again. And it will only further stoke the recent rumors that there are plans for a TV series or film spin-off set in the same world with different characters. But let’s get to the end of this saga first. “Breaking Dawn: Part 2” opens on November 16th.
