Take A Peep At Character Videos For 'Veep,' Armando Iannucci's Upcoming HBO Political Comedy

nullIf you were a fan of the 2009 political-satire “In The Loop,” you were probably pretty pleased to see that creator Armando Iannucci is thankfully going to forgo overseeing a remake of his own BBC series "The Thick of It," which “In The Loop” acted as a spin off of, and would instead created a new series for HBO called “Veep.” Featuring the always enjoyable comedic stylings of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the network dropped a trailer for the series at the beginning of the month, and now they’ve released more hilarity on the web.

A total of seven spots highlighting the main ensemble characters from the show have debuted, proving that “Veep” may indeed be the sort of hilarious satirical comedy we’ve been waiting for. The first trailer highlights the wrong-headed Mike (Matt Walsh), followed by the go-getter Sue (Sue Bradshaw), the smug Dan (Reid Scott), obedient body man Gary (Tony Hale), along with the titular “Veep” — Julia Louis-Dreyfus in a role that’s basically a more pessimistic Leslie Knope from “Parks and Recreation.”

“Veep” centers on former Senator Selina Meyer, who is finding out that being the Vice President of the United States of America is a lot more than just being the President’s right-hand lady. In an “In The Loop”-style, the series looks set to lampoon the inner workings of a government position which sometimes even we question the validity of.

Everything looks spot-on here, with the wide array of comedic talent showing off their chops in what looks to be a series that will toe the line between satirical comedy and dramatic flair. We’ll have to wait to see if all is as it seems when the show hits HBO on Sunday, April 22nd.
