When a movie gets pushed off its release date, the blood often drips into the water with fans and bloggers. What’s wrong with the film they ask? And often—see “Jupiter Ascending” or “Kingsman: The Secret Service”—the film does have its problems. This narrative seems to have skipped passed Joe Wright’s lavish reimagining of the Peter Pan story. Originally set for this summer, the movie now arrives in October reportedly to focus on finishing up special effects. And we suppose it’s good on Wright and WB that they do not have to deal with skepticism and negativity at the moment.
The film stars Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman (“Les Misérables”) as Blackbeard; Garrett Hedlund (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) as Hook; Oscar nominee Rooney Mara (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) as Tiger Lily; Adeel Akhtar (“The Dictator”) as Smee; Amanda Seyfried (“Les Misérables”) as Mary; and newcomer Levi Miller as Peter. Here’s the official synopsis:
Offering a new take on the origin of the classic characters created by J.M. Barrie, the action adventure follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny—to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.
Rounding out the cast are Taejoo Na, Kathy Burke (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”), Kurt Egyiawan (“Skyfall”) and more. Written by Jason Fuchs, “Pan” is set for a worldwide release in 3D and 2D in select theaters and IMAX on October 9th. Wright and some of the cast members were at Comic-Con and so they unveiled the goods and a new trailer. You can check that out below as well as a new “Pan” poster. Thoughts? Weigh in below.

The new #Pan trailer is a beauty. Giant crocodiles, upside down flying ships, Hugh Jackman screaming his head off (not literally). #sdcc

After a new trailer and a Hugh Jackman scene, audience here definitely warming up to "Pan," if not still super crazy. But intrigued.

Not all that into Pan. Trailer is very pretty, but too much prophecy stuff. Big crocodile, though! #SDCC

New trailer for Pan shows off Joe Wright’s beautiful eye. Feels like it’s missing something. Perhaps Tilda Swinton. #comicon2015
