Got a Tip?

‘G.I. Joe 2’ Release Date Set For August 10, 2012

So with the cast presumably coming together for “G.I. Joe 2,” Paramount has gone ahead and set a late summer release date for the film with August 10, 2012 penciled in.

So far the only confirmed cast member for the film is Lee Byung-hun, who is playing Storm Shadow in the film. As actress Rachel Nichol tweeted last week, the number of toy soliders returning will be fairly small as only Duke (Channing Tatum) and Snake Eyes (Ray Park) are said to be reprising their roles. Previous director Stephen Sommers is out, as “Step Up” helmer Jon Chu will take the reigns on this one.

The August 10th date is currently wide open with no other films on that date, though the week before will find a double whammy of competition as “The Bourne Legacy” and the “Total Recall” remake will both be hitting theaters. Filming is expected to begin this summer. [THR]
