Watch: New Trailer For 'The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?' Presents A Missed Opportunity

Death Of Superman LivesOf 4 Superman Movies That Were Never Made, arguably one of the most fascinating what-ifs has to be "Superman Lives." Set to be directed by Tim Burton, with Nicolas Cage (!?!?!?) in the lead role, with a script by Kevin Smith (really! it was apparently a good screenplay), the project was an adaptation of "The Death Of Superman" comic book arc that had android super villain Brainiac sending raging powerhouse Doomsday to kill the original superhero. But studio meddling led to rewrites, which eventually saw the project fall apart. But not before enough production had transpired —including early versions of costumes—  that there’s at least some sense of what the movie would’ve been like.  An upcoming documentary tells the true story of the Superman movie that wasn’t.

"The Death Of Superman Lives: What Happened?" as the title makes clear, digs into the aborted Burton incarnation of the superhero. The doc gets in touch with many of the folks  who worked behind-the-scenes on the movie, including producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who each elucidate Burton’s vision, how it all came together… and then didn’t. But guess what? The movie isn’t finished! Filmmaker Jon Schnepp is looking to raise $85,000 to help with the post-production, so if you want this to get completed, you might want to open your wallet.
