‘Captain America: Civil War’ Reveals Full Cast & Synopsis, Includes Ant-Man, The Vision & General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross

Captain America: Civil WarIs “Captain America: Civil War” like a huge “Avenger 2.5”? Yep, there’s been lots of rumors and talk of who’s going to be in the cast, but the film has just begun production and Marvel has revealed the entire cast, plus the film’s first synopsis. And the movie sounds like it’s picking up right where “Avengers: Age Of Ultron” left off and features the entire New Avengers featured at the end of the film. Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen it.

So that means additional characters and actors confirmed for the film  are Paul Bettany as The Vision and Don Cheadle as War Machine and to a lesser extent Anthony Mackie as The Falcon who many presumed would be in the movie. But one big additional surprise, Paul Rudd will make his first official ‘Avengers’ appearance as Ant-Man. Also confirmed to appear are Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier. Meanwhile, William Hurt is back as General Thunderbolt from the 2008 Edward Norton standlone Hulk movie. Here’s the full main cast revealed:

The film also includes outstanding additional cast, including Chadwick Boseman (“42,” “Get on Up”) as T’Challa/Black Panther, Emily VanCamp (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Revenge”) as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Daniel Brühl (“Inglourious Basterds,” “Bourne Ultimatum”), Frank Grillo (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Warrior”) as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, William Hurt (“A History of Violence,” Marvel’s “The Incredible Hulk”) as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and Martin Freeman (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”).

And here’s your official synopsis: “Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Captain America: Civil War” is indeed huge and opens in theaters May 6, 2016.
