Got a Tip?

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, ‘Kill Bin Laden’: Kyle Chandler Joins Kathryn Bigelow’s Film; Is The Movie A Procedural?

nullWith the male leading cast of Kathryn Bigelow's untitled project, aka "Kill Bin Laden," featuring two Aussies (Joel Edgerton, Jason Clarke), one Brit (Mark Strong) and a Venezuelan (Edgar Ramirez), it's about time another American came aboard to join Chris Pratt. And you don't get much more heartland flavor than you do with "Friday Night Lights" and "Super 8" star Kyle Chandler.

The actor is the latest to come aboard the highly anticipated film that finds "The Hurt Locker" team of Bigelow and writer Mark Boal back together to tell the tale of the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. So basically, sounds like a thriller right? Perhaps, but the film might be offering a wholly different view than we have expected. Speaking with the Press Association last month Strong described the movie as "a very procedural film about the CIA and their attempts to find him."

That's certainly a clue into what the tone of the film may be, and we'd guess it may focus just as much on the behind-closed-doors politics and intelligence gathering to track him down, as it will on the firefight that eventually killed the terrorist leader (Deadline is saying that Chandler will play a CIA agent, which certainly fits into that possibility). Indeed, it was reported that the film was given a new draft once news came that Osama Bin Laden had been slain, pushing the original summer 2011 shoot to this spring.

Anyway, we'll just have to be patient and see how it all unravels. "Kill Bin Laden" (or whatever it ends up being called) opens on December 19th.
