Directors: Shawn Levy To Helm 'Minecraft,' Corneliu Porumboiu Finds 'The Treasure' & More

Shawn Levy This Is Where I Leave YouYes, producers Roy Lee (“The Lego Movie”) and Jill Messick (“Hot Rod," “Mean Girls”) are bringing "Minecraft" to the big screen, and it looks like they’ve found their director. Following the dramedy flop "This Is Where I Leave You," Shawn Levy is in talks to develop and direct the video game adaptation. In more exciting news, Romanian filmmaker Corneliu Porumboiu ("When Evening Falls on Bucharest or Metabolism," "12:08 East Of Bucharest," "Police, Adjective") has started shooting his next film, "The Treasure." Toma Cuzin, and non-professional actors Adrian Purcărescu and Corneliu Cozmei lead the cast in the story that "follows two men as they face a series of misadventures in their quest to find a treasure." "Big Bad Wolves" directors Navot Papushado and Aharon Keshales are making the leap to Hollywood and will write and direct a remake of "Vengeance" for Sony. The 2009 original was helmed by acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Johnnie To and follows "a French chef who swears revenge after a violent attack on his daughter’s family in Hong Kong, during which her husband and two children are murdered.
