First Look: Jonah Hill & James Franco In ‘True Story’, Opening April 10, 2015

True StoryYesterday we learned that “True Story” starring Jonah Hill and James Franco would premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Today, we’ve got a few more bits of information, a release date and new photos. Fox Searchlight has announced that “True Story” will hit cinemas on April 10, 2015 in limited release.

Directed by Rupert Goold and co-written by Goold and David Kajganich, “True Story” is based on the book “True Story: Murder, Memoir, Mea Culpa” by Michael Finkel, a New York Times writer who was fired after it came to light that he had created composite characters for a story he had written on the African slave trade. The movie is about the journalist and a murderer on the FBI Most Wanted List who had lived outside the U.S. for years under Finkel’s name. Here’s the official synopsis:

When disgraced New York Times reporter Michael Finkel (Jonah Hill) meets accused killer Christian Longo (James Franco) – who has taken on Finkel’s identity – his investigation morphs into an unforgettable game of cat-and-mouse. Based on actual events, Finkel’s relentless pursuit of Longo’s true story encompasses murder, love, deceit and redemption.

Produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B with “12 Years A Slave” producer Dede Gardner at the production helm, the movie also co-stars Felicity Jones. A new trailer will arrive later this week. Check out the new photos below.
