Watch: 5 Clips From John Boorman's Cannes Film 'Queen And Country' Starring Caleb Landry Jones Plus New Pics

Queen And Country

While the Cannes Film Festival kicked off today with “Grace Of Monaco” (read our review), tomorrow sees the launch of the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight sidebar, that will be bringing new efforts from Frederick Wiseman, Bruno Dumont and more. And one other name to pay attention to on that lineup is John Boorman, who will be unspooling his latest, “Queen And Country.”

Starring Caleb Landry Jones, Tamsin Egerton, Richard E. Grant and David Thewlis, the film is a sequel to a Boorman’s autobiographical 1987 movie “Hope & Glory” (which earned five Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Director), and follows the now 18-year-old Bill Rowan, who is sent to fight against the Chinese in the Korean war. Sound serious? Not quite. These two clips show a film with a lot of humor, with the first (and NSFW clip) showing a couple of soldiers peeking into a woman’s dormitory, and the latter highlighting the inanity of military bureaucracy (as always, Grant is great).

No word yet on a U.S. date for the film, but check out the clips and new pics below. Update 5/15: A total of five clips have been release, watch below.
