Watch: Blood Will Have Blood In First Trailer For 'Macbeth' Starring Michael Fassbender And Marion Cotillard

Macbeth"Steve [McQueen] always says, ‘Let’s try and fail better next time.’ The risk you might fall flat on your face is critical," Michael Fassbender recently told EW about the risk of taking on "Macbeth." "I love the idea of being around new, fresh talent. With Justin [Kurzel], it’s such a treat to watch him work and say to yourself, ‘He’s doing exactly what he should be doing on this planet.’ The experience of working with him was exceptional. He put his heart and soul into it." And the good news is, neither Fassbender nor the film fell on its face and after a grand reception at the Cannes Film Festival, the first trailer is here.

Co-starring Marion Cotillard, by now you should be familiar with the basic beats of the Shakespeare story, but that said, as we pointed out in our feature 5 Innovative Ways ‘Macbeth’ Differs From Previous Versions, Kurzel finds some interesting new avenues and approaches in his adaptation. And the result is a picture we raved about, with Jessica Kiang writing in her review: "In Kurzel’s ‘Macbeth’ the beautiful ferocity and complexity of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ is reborn, forged in iron, blood, and fire."
