Sometimes the reasons an actor picks a movie are pretty simple and straightforward. “Ridley [Scott] said, ‘This script is great.’ I said, ‘Yeah it is.’ He goes, ‘Why the f— aren’t we doing this?’ That was it. I said, ‘Okay!’ ” Matt Damon told EW about his decision. And after 72 days of shooting last fall, the movie is now in the can, ready for a World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and two new trailers for the movie are here.

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
