Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin star in the adaptation of Jojo Moyes bestseller, directed by Thea Sharrock, that details the romance that blooms between a quadriplegic and his caretaker. And it seems to be a story that touched those involved. "Actors cannot invest too much in auditions. It’s too heartbreaking if you don’t get it," Clarke told USA Today. "But this one I was like, ‘I’m doing it.’ I was madly into it. Every fiber of me felt like someone had written me down."
The script is co-written by Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter, the writing duo behind "The Fault In Our Stars," "Paper Towns," and "The Spectacular Now," so they know this kind of emotional territory well. But let’s just hope the execution is tasteful, because hitting the wrong notes with this premise could come off quite badly.
"Me Before You" opens on June 3rd. Watch below.
