Narrative is really our thing, either in film or TV, or whatever for it takes on the web and subscription channels like Netflix, etc. We rarely ever discuss 30-minute sitcoms because that format usually isn’t very conducive to per-episode discussion (and some popular shows like “The Big Bang Theory” totally blow IMO), but that’s changing obviously. “Louie” is an incredibly rich and funny show, there are huge “Community” proponents among us, and other great shows right now include "Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Archer,” “Veep,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Silicon Valley,” “Bojack Horseman,” and many more. Personally, for my money, right up next to “Louie” are the girls from Comedy Central’s utterly brilliant and subversive “Broad City.” I think it would be fair to say many of us love this sharply observed and hilarious show — dubbed "sneak attack feminism" by the Wall Street Journal — and fully endorse it.
It was really only a matter of time until some film producer gave them their own movie and we were kind of expecting Judd Apatow to snap them up quick. But perhaps a like-minded, next-best compatriot has stepped up to the plate in “Bridesmaids” director Paul Feig, who — having directed “The Heat,” “Spy,” and the upcoming all-female “Ghostbusters” — knows a thing or two about funny ladies. So in some of the best news of the week, “Broad City” stars and creators Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer are teaming up with Feig for an untitled comedy film.

Details are under wraps, but Jacobson and Glazer have already sold a comedy project to 20th Century Fox, and Feig will produce along with his Feigco partner Jessie Henderson. Currently Jacobson and Glazer are not attached to star in the project, but we hope that changes. In the same way that Apatow saw the promise in Amy Schumer and gave her her own starring vehicle (the upcoming “Trainwreck”), we hope Jacobson and Glazer get their due on the big screen too. [THR]
